Although having been painting a lot of commission pieces over the past few months, I have managed to squeeze in some painting for my (very slowly) growing 18th Century Palatine army and finish off three units that have been gently worked on over the past year. Here we have the Regiment of Reiter commanded by Graf Eliot von Port-Eliot, Comte de Morhange (an English soldier of fortune in Palatine service). The riders are Minden Miniatures Hanovarian Dragoons, repurposed for the task, mounted on plastic horses from Wargames Atlantic. I was keen to see if these plastic beasts could be utilised. They are slightly too big in scale for these Minden figures, but not wildly so. I also completed the 1st Battalion of the Infantry Regiment von Baaden, the oldest regiment in the army of Pfalz (figures from Crann Tara with a Minden Miniatures mounted officer). Finally, a battery of mixed calibre heavy guns (guns from Minden and gunners from Crann Tara). I now need to turn my attention to a combined battalion of Grenadiers. All flags are prints from files by Frederic Aubert.

Crann Tara/Minden Miniatures Palatine Hohenhauser Dragoons 1740s.
The Palatine Hohenhauser Dragoons from the 1740s. The troopers come Crann Tara Miniatures and are re-purposed Savoy cavalry figures. They look like generic Dragoon types with the important aiguillettes on the right shoulder. The figures on the Command stand come out of the lead pile and are from Minden Miniatures mounted on three available standing horses. There is a little artistic license with the uniform details (black turnbacks instead of red) simply for more visual interest. I am fairly agnostic about the details being perfect.

Minden Miniatures SYW: 1st Battalion, Infantry Regiment Osten
Time for a new direction. This is the first time that I have painted up any Minden Miniatures SYW figures. They are a delight to work with. Here we have some Prussian figures in Swedish cuffs masquerading as the 1st Battalion of the Infantry Regiment Osten of the Palatine Auxiliary Corps (Pfaltzische Subsidienkorps) hired by France to fight in Germany. More of such will follow. I can only hope that they are good enough to serve alongside Steve's French Minden Miniatures SYW figures that have been painted up by someone known only as "The Dentist". Flags come via some computer trickery and printing out of the regimental colours as illustrated in the SPLENDID plates produced by Frédéric Aubert and available via his SYWBS: Seven Years War Battle System FB page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/343028327548164/
