Foundry British Napoleonic Light Dragoons 2

Have you ever painted a figure that has fought against you every step of the way? Well, this one did. A great sculpt and love the bicorn being worn rather than the tarleton helmet. I was really looking forward to painting this.
To prevent handling,  I fix figures to corks with blutak when I paint. It fell off at least twice resulting in bent bits, scratches and fluff stuck to wet paint.. It was fiddly and I just couldn't get the freehand on the sabretache... three times I tried... lost patience. Gave up in the end.
The varnish didn't dry properly leaving bubbles and that white residue in the creases, folds and recesses. I just couldn't remove it. You can see it on the photo.
Finally, as I removed the figure from the cork, the horse's tail broke off! I gave up in the end. Sometimes it is best just acknowledege that things were never meant to be and move on.

Foundry British Napoleonic Light Dragoons

When Light Dragoons looked like British light Cavalry, before they began to ape their French counterparts with plastron fronted coatees and shakos! Just some fun that has been lurking in the lead pile for some time.
Painted up as 11th Light Dragoons. Some liberties taken with the uniform.... the turban on the helmet should, by this date, be black rather than in the facing colour. It adds, however, some lightness to the overall appearance. I have an officer on the table as I type.

Foundry Boer War British Field Artillery Limber

Look what Father Christmas brought. This is the recently re-released Wargames Foundry British Colonial Artillery limber. The gun does not come with the set. I like this limber and team because the horses and Drivers look as if they are actually pulling something of weight at speed.

Having maligned the Good Lady Wife before Christmas, I was delighted to find this set in the Christmas Stocking. I'm pleased to say that this is now in my display case having finally secured some time to pursue my own projects rather than working on painting commissions. I dedicate this set to Michael Awdry who runs the 28mm Victorian Warfare Blog. This is a place that I always enjoy visiting and have gained valuable inspiration in the past as a result.

French Napoleonic Cavalry Casualty Markers

Not the sort of thing I normally paint, but I was asked to paint up these miniatures as French Napoleonic
casualty markers.
In reality, Perry Belgian heavy cavalry figures but a a change of paint scheme to create something representing French Carabiniers in campaign dress, without breast plates, in blue tunics with their cloaks rolled over their shoulders.

The Hussar on the left is also a Perry Dutch-Belgian figure. A change of horse was needed here. The Cuirassier figure is from Foundry with a Perry Plastic horse struggling to get to its feet.

The Cuirassier figure and the two Hussars on their backs are from Foundry. The other two figures are, again Perry Dutch Belgian figures with different paint schemes. The figure laying on its front is a Belgian Chasseur, but painted up a Hussar wearing his undress town coat instead of a pelisse.

Foundry Foraging Bavarians

Finally! I have managed the time to paint this set of fabulous figures.
