New Zealand Mounted Rifles 5

Images of the completed Mounted unit of ten figures.

I thouroughly enjoyed this simple conversion project. My real wish is that someone out there would produce a Hotchiss Mk 1 team, both mounted and dismounted so that such units could have some added fire support!

New Zealand Mounted Rifles 4

The first two mounted figures. Just wanted to do a couple over the holiday period so I could see what they would finally come out like. I'm pleased with the overall result. Think I got the highlight on the horses too close to the mid tone... not enough contrast... Eight more to do. Next post will be of the completed mounted unit.

The completed dismounted unit. The mounted figures get the undercoat treatment later today.

New Zealand Mounted Rifles 2

Here with the first five dismounted "En Zeds". They wear the patch of the Auckland Mounted Rifles on their puggaree. The officer type and two riflemen wear the earlier pattern slouch hat. Great War Miniatures figures  with Woodbine Designs head-swaps. Based the colour scheme on the uniform photo beneath. To come: five more dismounted chaps and the ten mounted versions. Stay tuned!

The paint scheme for these chaps has been added to "File 5: The Desert Mounted Corps" painting guide. Along with this some extra information on unit insignia for Yeomanry, Australian Light Horse, The NZMR and the Imperial Camel Corps battalions.
