Another French (German) Infantry Command Stand.

 Hot on the heels of the command stand for the Regiment de Saint-Germain, I give you the command stand for the repurposed blue coated (with yellow facings) battalion that will represent the Regiment de Anhalt. The drummers posed an interesting question...how to paint them? They did not wear French Royal Livery so I had a choice, simply reverse the colours for the coat or be a little more creative. Reversed colours would make them very similar to the drummers of Saint-Germain so I chose to be creative. Here, the drummers are painted in Colonel's livery, being the green white and red of the House of Ascania, the family of the Colonel-Proprietor Prinz Friedrich Erdmann von Anhalt-Köthen. All figures from Crann Tara and the flags are home-made.

 We need to re-purpose some troops to bring the French Army up to strength for the Battle of Minden refight in October. So, a few separate command stands will be needed to turn existing battalions with a similar colour scheme into Frenchmen...or in this case, a German regiment in French service. All figures are from Crann Tara, the flags are homemade and the Drummers are wearing an approximation of the Colonel's livery of the House of Saint-Germain.

Kingsley Receives THE Order. A Second Minden Vignette.

 Maj. Gen. John Kingsley (Commanding the second echelon of von Spörcken's division): Who is this hasty Hanoverian, James?

Lt. Col. James Lockhart-Ross (Officer Commanding 25th Foot): Hmmm... It appears to be Oberst von Taube... Ferdinand's Aide... He is a Swede by birth, I collect.

Kingsley: Is he, by God. Swede or not, he is in a damned hurry.

Oberst Jakob Graf von Taube would report to Kingsley with the following order: "...advance with the regiments you have, with drums beating, and attack whatever you might encounter." Kingsley's drums began to beat, it was taken up by the first echelon, the Hanovarian Guards followed suit and the Brazen Wall began it's fateful advance.

Adding to my 18th Century Palatine force.

Although having been painting a lot of commission pieces over the past few months, I have managed to squeeze in some painting for my (very slowly) growing 18th Century Palatine army and finish off three units that have been gently worked on over the past year. Here we have the Regiment of Reiter commanded by Graf Eliot von Port-Eliot, Comte de Morhange (an English soldier of fortune in Palatine service). The riders are Minden Miniatures Hanovarian Dragoons, repurposed for the task, mounted on plastic horses from Wargames Atlantic. I was keen to see if these plastic beasts could be utilised. They are slightly too big in scale for these Minden figures, but not wildly so.  I also completed the 1st Battalion of the Infantry Regiment von Baaden, the oldest regiment in the army of Pfalz  (figures from Crann Tara with a Minden Miniatures mounted officer). Finally, a battery of mixed calibre heavy guns (guns from Minden and gunners from Crann Tara). I now need to turn my attention to a combined battalion of Grenadiers.
