Those nice chaps at the "WI" have been so good as to review my latest painting guide: "If you are a Sudan wargamer, this book really is "a must"."

Oshiro Models Boxer Rebellion Japanese Infantry
Painted up as Japanese Imperial Guard. Sculpted by Soapy Dormer, I believe. Flag to be added when they reach their "forever home". The dark blue uniform does not photograph well at all. These could also be used for the Russo-Japanese War.

Eureka Miniatures 28mm Rhodesian Light Infantry
I am not a natural painter of "modern" subjects and the painting of camouflage usually leaves me cold, but I was asked to paint up this small collection of Rhodesian Light Infantry from the Eureka Miniatures' 28mm African Wars range and, fancying a bit of a change, I accepted the task. The chap kneeing is a Selous Scout Tracker. I have tried to give the flesh tones a warmer, more sun-tanned look.

Table Dressing for the Sudan.
Here are three figures available from Oniria Miniatures. Marketed as 28mm, these three splendid chaps would not mix well with most exisiting ranges being rather tall and slender by comparison but the camel is great! These figures were, I think, designed more for the serious figure painter or military modeller rather than the wargamer BUT they make a cracking little vignette for the table-top...scouts perhaps?

Anglo Egyptian War 1882 British Cavalry
I have been playing around with the Perry Miniatures Sudan 19th Hussars figures to create something that looks like the 7th Dragoon Guards and 19th Hussars for the Anglo Egyptian War. First up, a 7th DG trooper and then a 19th Hussar in a plain blue frock. I think it works.
