Perry Miniatures Sudan War Correspondents

Melton Prior stands on a rocky outcrop to get a good view of the action some distance away and immediately begins to sketch. No doubt this illustration too will be reproduced in the Illustrated London News. Frederic Villiers, his mount giving him an excellent view of the action, makes notes and brief sketches in his notebook ready for his next article for the Graphic. Scotsman, Bennet Burleigh, correspondent for the Daily Telegraph, watches on, no doubt mentally composing the next chapter of his planned book on the campaign.

Perry Sudan Gordon Highlanders 3

A photo of the latest six off the painting table. Below that, a picture of the "firing line". Six more of these to do as part of this group, but the remaing six are all in the firing position so I shall not post images of these as they are, in effect, repeats of figures already featured. These chaps are hard work, but there comes a moment in the painting process when it all comes together and I nod my head and think "nice!".

Perry Sudan Gordon Highlanders 2

Interestingly, I kept a log of how long it took to complete these six figures from bare metal to painted, varnished and based. Thirteen and a half hours' work.

And a high angle shot of all the Tommies from this latest group.
